Our primary mission is to assist Canadians in privately sponsoring their extended family members, relatives, and friends. It's important to note that our sponsorship is exclusively for refugees located outside their home countries, specifically those who are unable to return due to a legitimate fear of persecution based on factors such as race, religion, political opinion, nationality, or membership in certain social groups, including considerations like gender or sexual orientation.
RRS carries the responsibility of sponsoring individuals without discrimination based on nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or any other such distinctions. Upon their arrival, refugees are legally entitled to seek employment. However, for those who may not be proficient in English, the initial step involves enrolling in English language classes. These classes not only equip them with the language skills necessary for employment but also help them adapt to Canadian social norms and lifestyles, fostering integration within the community.
One of our core responsibilities is to ensure that newcomers receive proper documentation confirming their enrollment in certified English language classes. Once refugees attain an adequate level of English proficiency, they become eligible to work, even while still attending full-time English training classes. Importantly, refugees who choose to work during their first year of sponsorship remain eligible for sponsorship funds from their sponsors. This adherence to government-regulated guidelines is crucial to safeguarding the rights and well-being of refugees and to hold sponsors accountable for their responsibilities.
